Welcome to TLC23!
Whether it’s your very first time, you’re a veteran, or you’ve never missed a moment, this page will give you some tips on what to expect this year.
Teens
This event is all about you! We want you to enjoy the day and make the most of your time.
We recommend that you plan to be at the event all day, there’s something fun to do every hour of the day. TLC is open from 10a-3p on Saturday, April 29.
If you drive, get dropped off, or carpool:
When you arrive, there is plenty of free parking in the school lot. While we will be able to let you in the building; we do not recommend arriving too early as there is nothing to do before 10am. You will receive your free TLC sportsack when you arrive, it will have the day’s schedule of events. You can also find that here, if you like to plan in advance.
If you come on a bus:
Buses will arrive and drop off at the entrance to the school. You will be greeted by a volunteer and given your TLC sportsack, which will contain the day’s schedule. You can also find that here, if you like to plan in advance.
As every bus has a chaperone, they may give instructions on where to meet at the end of the day. If not, please make note of your particular bus, there will be many waiting when the event ends. Also please make note of your chaperone’s name. If you need assistance, we can help you find them if there is an issue throughout the day.
The Main Event
The event begins promptly at 10am, in the school auditorium. The opening panel will include all four national authors, answering fun and entertaining questions.
Once that concludes, the Exhibit Hall will be open. The EH does not open until 11am! Additionally, there will be sessions for you to choose from, activities you can choose to participate in, the authors will be signing books in the Exhibit Hall. It’s up to you to decide your day!
If, at any time, you have questions, please stop an Ambassador, they are adult volunteers dressed in the TLC t-shirt.
If you have more questions, visit the FAQ page, or email us at teenlitcon@gmail.com
Adults
Adults are absolutely welcome at TLC, whether you are a parent attending with your child, a fan of YA literature, or a volunteer, we are happy that you are spending time at this fun event. However, we do want to caution you that this is a day that is wholly focused on teens. While we are happy you’re there, please be respectful of the teenagers. This means that seating (for author talks and sessions) will prioritize teens, giveaways are for teens only, and if there’s a long signing line–we may bump you back in favor of teens getting to meet that author.
If you are planning on attending and you would like to volunteer, please click here.
